Cement-Coated XPS Insulation board is a lightweight construction board with an extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam core and a coated backing surface. It is designed for projects that need thermal insulation together with a surface that can be incorporated into a suitable finishing system.
The XPS core helps reduce heat transfer, while the backing provides a more practical surface for finishing than exposed foam alone. The board is easy to handle and can be cut to fit around corners, openings and service penetrations.
Install the board on a sound, suitable substrate using the adhesive or mechanical fixing method specified for the application. Support and treat board joints as required by the finishing system. For bathrooms, showers and other wet areas, seal joints, corners and penetrations as part of a complete waterproofing system. Confirm the board’s suitability for the intended floor load, finish and exposure conditions before installation.
Material: Extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam core with coated backing
Available sizes and thicknesses: From 9mm and above
Recommended use: Subject to the board’s technical data and installation requirements

EPS means expanded polystyrene – also known as styrofoam. It is made by expanding and moulding polystyrene beads. EPS insulation is available in different densities and grades and is widely used in roofs, walls, floors and sandwich panels.
XPS means extruded polystyrene. It is produced by extruding polystyrene into a continuous rigid foam board. This product has an XPS core, with a separate coated backing surface.
Both EPS and XPS can provide effective thermal insulation. Neither name alone tells you whether a board is suitable for a particular floor load, wet area or finish. When comparing products, check the thickness, thermal performance, compressive strength, water-absorption data and surface coating on each supplier’s technical datasheet.
Buying tip: If you need a coated board as a base for a finish, check both the foam core and the coating. A plain XPS insulation sheet and a coated XPS construction board are different products, even though both contain XPS.
Both EPS (expanded polystyrene) and XPS (extruded polystyrene) reduce heat transfer. When conventional boards of the same thickness are compared, XPS generally provides slightly better thermal insulation. This makes XPS useful when installation space is limited and you want more insulation from a thinner board.
EPS can still achieve the required insulation level by using an appropriate grade or greater thickness. Some enhanced EPS products may also perform differently from standard EPS, so the foam name alone is not enough to rank every board.
A lower λ-value means better insulation; a higher R-value means better insulation. This product has an XPS core and a coated backing surface.
Take Note: λ is the Greek letter lambda. In insulation, the λ-value means thermal conductivity: how easily heat passes through a material.
Lower λ = better insulation at the same thickness. It is usually written in W/m·K. For example, a board rated 0.030 W/m·K insulates better than one rated 0.040 W/m·K, assuming the same thickness.
